Leading-edge minimally invasive surgical techniques are changing the future of surgical health care. With over ten thousand surgical procedures performed annually at our Hospital, it is crucial that our operating rooms meet the needs of new and rapidly evolving surgical procedures. As an acute-care training Hospital, our operating rooms also provide surgical training for emerging physicians, nurses and operating theatre staff in training.

These advancements will: 

• create Advanced Integrated Suites - a first for Saskatoon Hospitals - bringing new technology,  cameras, large monitors and the capacity for connectivity into six of our operating theatres, giving surgical teams the capacity to consult with off-site professionals through secure channels, or to educate and train other professionals in real time! 
• place our operating theatres in line with some of the most advanced hospitals of today, attracting world-class surgeons and surgical teams to Saskatchewan and positively influencing the future of provincial health care.
• improve turnaround time between surgeries, reduce surgical team fatigue, and replace our aging single bulb lighting system.
• ensure that crucial patient information - such as test results, patient history and diagnostic images - will be readily available and easily viewed during the actual surgical procedures.
