Renal Services

For the many Saskatchewan patients suffering from kidney disease, Renal Services available through St. Paul's Hospital include a Hemodialysis - in Centre (655-5315); The Cameco Community Renal Health Centre (655-5998); Home Based Therapies - Peritoneal Dialysis, Home Dialysis, and Hemodialysis Satellite Units(655-5317); a Chronic Kidney Disease Program(655-5683); and the Saskatchewan Transplant Program (655-5054).

Cameco Community Renal Health Centre
At the Cameco Community Renal Health Centre we are proud that we have developed a Quality of Life Committee. Although it is in the initial stages, our purpose is to improve quality of life on our patients while they are receiving dialysis treatment in our unit. Patients spend a good deal of time in our unit (up to 12 or more hours each week).

We are partnering with the Volunteer Department (Pharmacy Students) to bring 1 to 1 visiting, activities and games and perhaps nourishments. We have initiated a suggestion box for patients. Other plans include a drop in room for conversation and education. We were fortunate to have our own part time pharmacist start in September of this year which enhances our teaching of patients (and staff). We have been told by visiting patients that we have such a happy unit and we want to build on this.
