Personnel Association

Background
The St. Paul's Hospital Personnel Association was founded in the summer of 1966 by 4 employees.The first function sponsored by the Personnel Association was the 1966 Christmas Party, held at St. Mary's Hall. The Association borrowed $500.00 from the Grey Nuns to cover costs associated with the event. There was great concern on the part of the Executive that the party would be a complete failure as only about 50 tickets had been pre-sold.  Much to their surprise and relief, the hall was full by 11:00 p.m. Food for the lunch was prepared at the hospital and taken to the hall.

It is extremely gratifying to see that the Personnel Association continues to function and this is due to the employees who, over the years, have volunteered their time and energy to be on the Executive, as well as plan and hold the many functions.

Objectives
The objectives of the SPH Personnel Association are:

• to promote, maintain and improve interdepartmental relationships throughout the Hospital by the organizing of social events
• to provide financial assistance and/or moral support for any member of the Personnel Association suffering a personal disaster
• to support other projects for the benefit of the membership
• to support the SPH Foundation through the revenue of  Nevada ticket sales

What We Do (and have done)

• Free Coffee & Doughnuts (for Valentine's Day)
• Curling, SPH Bowling League, Slow-pitch
• Spring Raffle
• Pancake Breakfast *
• Harvestfest *
• Cinnamon Buns during Mission Week for all staff
• Halloween Costume Contest
• Nevada Ticket Sales - proceeds donated to SPH Foundation
• Children's Christmas Party for members
• Christmas Banquet & Dance *
• Dinner Theatres *
• Donations made to SPH Fitness Centre, SPH Community Days, SDH Family Fun Day, Telemiracle, Staff Christmas Party  gifts
• Flowers sent to member (or donation to charity) in the case of death of a member's family
• Flowers sent to member who is hospitalized
• Donations to members suffering a personal disaster
• Other events
