April 27, 2016  Urology patients in Saskatchewan will be receiving better care with support from Saskatoon sponsors, celebrities and golfers. Proceeds from the Driving Fore Prostate Golf Classic on July 19th at the Dakota Dunes Golf Links will help purchase needed equipment for the Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health at St. Paul’s Hospital.

“When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, the Urology Centre at St. Paul’s was pivotal in my diagnosis, treatment and recovery,” said volunteer Event Chair Murray Hill. “This tournament will help ensure other men facing this life-changing diagnosis will have the best treatment available. I’m urging men and women to step-up to the tee-box and join us on the fairway July 19th.”

New this year is the star-powered Kids on Ice Camp. Event sponsors will have the opportunity to bring a child to join celebrities and sponsored children from Northern communities at a half-day skating and hockey skills camp on July 18th. The day includes a meet-and-greet with the stars before the camp and lunch afterwards. Ron Hyggen, CEO of Athabasca Basin Security, is the inspiration behind Kids on Ice. “We’re pleased to once again be involved with Driving Fore Prostate and really excited to offer these kids the once in a lifetime opportunity of skating with the stars at the skills camp.”

Celebrities participating in Driving Fore Prostate include: John Gormley, Curtis Leschyshyn, Andrea Menard, Mike Ciona, Mark Loshak, Derek Watson, Mayor Don Atchison, Ernie Loutitt (Indian Ernie), Bill McLelland and a few of the Saskatoon Blades.

The Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health provides valuable guidance to patients facing a diagnosis of prostate cancer or other urological illnesses. Nurse Navigators help men and their families determine important decisions in relation to their treatment plans, which often includes surgical procedures.

Proceeds from Driving Fore Prostate 2016 will support the purchase of a surgical Mini C-Arm X-Ray Scanner and Radiolucent Operating Theatre Table for the Leslie and Irene Dubé Urology Centre of Health.

St. Paul’s Hospital is an independently owned, faith-based Hospital working in partnership with Saskatoon Health Region. With a strong focus on compassionate and holistic health care, St. Paul’s Hospital is also an educational facility providing acute-care health practitioners with the training they need to become tomorrow’s leaders.
