On April 1, 2018, ownership of St. Paul’s Hospital was transferred to Emmanuel Health Inc., a Saskatchewan Catholic health organization that governs 12 publicly funded non-profit Catholic Health Care facilities across the province. Local presence remains critical to the mission of Catholic Health Care, and a St. Paul’s Hospital Local Council is appointed as a committee of the Emmanuel Health Board.
St. Paul’s Hospital was originally established in 1907 by religious sisters from the order of the Grey Nuns of Montreal. In 1999, ownership of St. Paul’s Hospital was transferred from the Grey Nuns to the Saskatchewan Catholic Health Corporation to Emmanuel Health.
Emmanuel Health is owned by the Catholic Bishops of Saskatchewan. The Bishops appoint Board Directors to Emmanuel Health, and Emmanuel Health appoints Board Directors to Emmanuel Health.
