Mistletoe Charity Baskets Raise $173,412 for Music Therapy Program

Saskatoon, SK – Thanks to the astounding generosity of our community, the Mistletoe Baskets, presented by Nutrien, raised $173,412 in revenue. Funds raised will support St. Paul’s Hospital’s acclaimed Healing Arts music therapy program.

Mistletoe Charity Baskets were created and delivered by a group of dedicated volunteers on Saturday, December 11. “I would like to express my profound gratitude to our generous sponsors, community and volunteers for their ongoing support and for keeping us in their hearts this holiday season. Your generosity, as always, supports the mission, vision and values of St. Paul’s Hospital and this year, will expand accessible, holistic care through our music therapy program,” said Lecina Hicke, St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation CEO.

“The Mistletoe Volunteer Committee was thrilled to see that the spirit of giving remains strong in the Saskatoon community,” said Mistletoe Ball Volunteer Committee Chair, Pam Prosofsky. “We look forward to being able to celebrate in person at the Mistletoe Ball next year.”

“The success of this event can be attributed to the hard work of the Volunteer Committee. They have adapted and met every challenge along the way with enthusiasm and grace,” added Manager of Annual Giving Michelle Neufeld. Proceeds from this year’s Mistletoe Charity Baskets will support expansion of our music therapy program at St. Paul’s Hospital. Music therapy can reduce patient stress, lower blood pressure, and improve overall mental health and well-being. Proceeds will help ensure those receiving dialysis treatments at both St. Paul’s Hospital and the Cameco Community Renal Health Centre across the street will have access to an accredited and culturally inclusive music therapist who can provide service in English and Cree.

For 32 years, the Mistletoe Charity Ball Volunteer committee has been raising funds for St. Paul’s Hospital by providing Saskatoon with an opportunity to celebrate the generous spirit of the Christmas season through the Mistletoe Ball and the sale of Mistletoe Baskets.

Since its inception in 1989, the event has raised $3.8 Million toward patient care and advancements at St. Paul’s Hospital.

St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation takes this opportunity to thank presenting sponsor Nutrien, our many sponsors, and everyone who purchased a basket or made a donation. Special thank you to our dedicated volunteer Mistletoe Ball Committee members for their continued energy and commitment: Pam Prosofsky (Chair), Carol Yelland (Past Co-Chair), Arlene Jorgenson, Barbara Berscheid, Doreen Howlett, Laurie Thomas, Nicholle Povhe, Carrie Jamieson, Jennifer Bow (SPH Foundation Executive Assistant), Jesse Greenwood (SPH Foundation Annual Giving Officer), and Michelle Neufeld (SPH Foundation Manager of Annual Giving).
